FAQ

Common questions

How heavy is a glass pivot door?

A 36 × 96 in door in 1/2 in tempered glass weighs about 156 lbs. The same door in 3/4 in glass weighs about 234 lbs.

Which Marix closer is right for a wood door?

For standard wooden pivot doors up to 260 lbs, use the Marix EDGE. For heavier or oversized wood doors, use the Marix Pivot Door Closer, rated up to 550 lbs.

Should I choose a higher weight rating?

Yes, when in doubt. The calculator already adds a 10% margin. Heavy handles, metal cladding or outdoor use with wind are good reasons to go one rating up.

How wide can the door be?

With a center pivot, Marix handles doors up to 8 ft wide. For small and mid-size openings an offset pivot works well.

Does Marix rust on wet floors or outdoors?

No. The closer is made of 304 stainless steel and has a 5-year warranty.
